Why St. Louis Laser & Vein Center?
What you need to consider…
Before trusting the treatment of your varicose veins to just anyone, you might want to ask the following questions:
Dr. Roque Ramos
Are the physicians performing my procedure well trained?
Roque Ramos, M.D., the founder and Medical Director of St. Louis Laser & Vein Center is a Board Certified physician who brings extensive training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease. He has trained with world-leading experts and pioneers in laser vein treatment such as John Kingsley M.D. and James Isobe, M.D. of Atlanta and Alabama Vascular as well as with Dr. Salvador Yunez, M.D of Vein Care Specialists in Chicago., a pioneer in the Midwest and international consultant in laser vein treatment.
What type of laser is used?
Our vein center is the first in St. Louis to use the CoolTouch laser that only destroys the inner lining of the vein wall, allowing the vein to close and then disappear. Other laser vein centers use radiofrequency to close the vein, however, that procedure destroys the whole thickness of the vein wall, causing more pain, bruising, and complications due to overheating of areas around the vein—including nerves and arteries.
The CoolTouch laser uses a patented automatic pullback device that allows the laser to treat the whole length of the vein uniformly. Other vein centers have to pull back the radiofrequency or laser fiber manually, this approach will not allow a uniform treatment of all segments of the vein.
Who performs my ultrasound?
At St. Louis Laser & Vein Center, only a physician will perform all aspects of your varicose vein treatment. Other practices may use an ultrasound technologist to perform the exam. This could lead to a missed or incorrect diagnosis if one person performs the exam while another person interprets the study.
Leading experts advocate the physician who performs the vein treatment also perform the ultrasound.
Who performs my sclerotherapy?
Our physicians perform all sclerotherapy procedures themselves, many other practices allow technicians or other assistants to perform this procedure.
Who performs my laser treatment?
Our physicians perform all laser procedures themselves. Many other practices allow technicians or other assistants to perform the ultrasound guidance portion of the procedure.
